Our Preschool Staff & Church Ministry
Director – Mrs. Spitler
I have been a dedicated educator at YLUMCP for the past two years, starting as an assistant teacher, growing into a lead teacher, and now serving as the Preschool Director. With degrees in Early Childhood Education and Business from Cal Poly Pomona and Santa Ana College, I am passionate about fostering young children’s curiosity and love for learning.
Beyond my professional life, I have been happily married for over 30 years and have two wonderful children—a daughter and a son—who are nearly grown, along with two beloved dogs. Watching children experience those “lightbulb” moments under my care is one of the most rewarding parts of my job, and I strive to create a nurturing environment where they can thrive.

My passion for teaching began when I was a child, I come from a family of educators. Becoming a teacher has been the most rewarding job I have ever had. My purpose as a teacher is to make a difference in each of the students’ lives. Children are the future of our world, and I feel blessed to be a part of this wonderful journey.

Teaching means the world to me. I love that I can give back to the local community. It is fulfilling to know that I can share my love of learning with each student. Also, I enjoy helping shape young minds.

Ms. Heather –
Afternoon Teacher
For as long as I can remember I wanted to be an early childhood educator. It is my goal to help each child have the best experience as they grow and learn. I look forward to being a part of a wonderful team and classroom. I love being a small part of the memories that your child will gain from their time here.
ROOM 2 “Sea Turtles” – PRE-K & TK (AGES 4-5)

Ms. M –
Lead Teacher
Being a teacher wasn’t something that I saw myself doing while going to school. When I started working with children, I began to grow a passion for education and realized that being an ECE was a career that I had to take. Seeing the joy and light that embodies the children when they learn something new and have memories of the things that they’ve learned is what I strive to see throughout my life as a teacher. To know that I played a role in their success both developmentally and academically brings a lot of warmth and love for my students and for the field that I chose to dedicate my life to.
ROOM 3 “Monkeys” – PRESCHOOL (AGES 2.5-3.5) Learning to Potty

It’s so fun to teach. I love seeing the joy on all the kids’ faces each day. I love watching them grow and learn new things. They bring such light into the world and into the classroom.

My goals are to inspire a lifelong love of learning in my students. I believe in creating a supportive classroom where curiosity thrives, and each child feels empowered to reach their full potential. To teach is to touch a life forever.

I love teaching children because it is a gift. Being able to show God’s unconditional love through teaching is a blessing; doing it through play, creating unforgettable and new memories and witnessing their milestones and aha moments is priceless. 💖

Children have so much to offer to the world. I always enjoyed being with children and helping them learn to do things that they had not done before. I always knew that I wanted to be a teacher and have worked with children most of my life. I feel like not only am I teaching them but that they are also teaching me. I enjoy seeing and learning through their eyes.

OUR CHURCH MINISTRY

Rev. William deBos –
Head Pastor
Pastor William is always up for new adventures and discoveries. He also enjoys gardening, golf, and being Poppy (Grandkid speak for Grandpa).
Pastor Greg –
Children’s Ministry Director
Since my youth I have served in local church ministry. Children and their families hold a special place in my heart, and I have been blessed to have served in a few churches for a long-term impact on God’s Kingdom. I received my BA in children’s & youth ministry from Pacific Christian College (now Hope International University) in Fullerton and have developed a philosophy of creatively reaching all generations with the Good News of Jesus Christ. As I enter my eleventh year in ministry here at YLUMC, I am so excited about our growing ministries which include our Kids Kingdom Sunday School, our Preschool program and a Cub Scout & Boy Scout program. I also enjoy working at my part-time job with FedEx and spending time with my family. Our family is made up of my wife Julie, two grown children, one adopted teen, four grand kids, along with a home full of frogs (not real ones) to help us all. . . F.R.O.G – Fully Rely On God! I look forward to serving your family and the community around us!!!
