This class, designed for the 18 month old through young/early two year old, focuses on developing friendships, self-esteem, curiosity, social skills, and attention span. At this age, children are making new discoveries daily. As two year olds begin to exert their independence, our Beginning Preschool program open their eyes to a world of learning, sharing, and exploring.
Based on theory that children learn through play, classroom routines encourage active involvement, meaningful experimentation, and reinforcement through repetition, group and individual activities, circle time, and more! The sessions are flexible as the needs and interests of the children are the basis of our curriculum.
As children reach school age, our comprehensive kindergarten program helps them explore, communicate and create-all in a nurturing, small class setting. This program offers reading, language arts, math, social studies, and science presented in a fun way to encourage a lifelong love of learning while giving the child one more year of walking with Jesus in a Christian environment. Curriculum is aligned with local and state elementary school standards so children will be prepared to confidently enter kindergarten or first grade.

At the age of 14, Brian gave his life to Christ while on a mission trip to the British Virgin Islands. While attending Ithaca College in New York he began working with A Christian Ministry in the National Parks (ACMNP) and served for 5 years in various national parks around the US. Brian began serving UMCWV as the director of Youth Ministries in Nov 2003. In 2008, he became the Associate Pastor of the United Methodist Church of Westlake Village, as he continued to work with youth until 2011. His hope in ministry is for people to "become fully committed to daily living out their relationship with God through Jesus." His passions in ministry are missions, discipleship and looking at the larger church impact in this world. in June 2011, Brian was ordained as an Elder in Full Connection in the Cal-Pac Annual Conference.

Since my youth I have served in local church ministry. Children and their families hold a special place in my heart and I have been blessed to have served in a few churches for a long-term impact on God’s kingdom. I received my BA in children’s & youth ministry from Pacific Christian College (now Hope International University) and have developed a philosophy of striving to reach all generations with the Good News of Jesus Christ. As I enter my fifth year in ministry here at YLUMC, I am so excited about our growing ministries which include our Kids Kingdom Sunday School, our Preschool & Kindergarten program and a Cub Scout & Boy Scout program. I also enjoy working at my part-time job with FedEx and spending time with family. Our family is made up of my wife Julie, two grown children, one adopted youngster, a couple of grand kids, along with a home full of frogs (not real ones) to help us all…F.R.O.G. = Fully Rely On God! I look forward to serving your family and the community around us!!!
